How can you participate in Congress activities?
The Congress is open to the participation of all those interested in knowing the current situation and future perspectives of Copyright and Related and Special Rights, with Special Rights referring to the rights of database producers and organizers of sporting events, for example.
Who can benefit from discounts on the “Ticket”?
The “early bird” discount has been extended until the 30th of June, after which prices will increase by around €50.00 (plus commissions and fees).
Members of national groups of ALAI or ALAI International will have a reduced rate, and in case of doubt, confirmation can be requested from the national group.
Students with a valid student card or certificate of enrollment in force at an educational or research institution may benefit from a reduced rate.
What are the health restrictions in force in Portugal?
The use of a hygienic mask is mandatory on all public transport and is also recommended inside public buildings. Other health restrictions are not foreseeable, but the information must be constantly updated by consulting the Visit Portugal website.
Will the Congress also be broadcast by streaming?
It is possible that the organization will make the Congress available in streaming, at a slightly lower registration fee, but this has not yet been decided because there are currently no restrictions on the holding of public events.
If these restrictions are verified, the organization will make the streaming signal available to all those who sign up.
What will happen if, after being registered, one cannot attend the Congress?
If the participant cannot leave their country due to any order or administrative restriction related to the pandemic or other public order reasons, and the organization has decided to make the signal available in streaming the tariff difference between the value of the registration made and paid and the price of remote participation via streaming will be refunded upon presentation of proof of the order or administrative restriction that prevents the participant from leaving his/her country.
If it is not decided to make the Congress available in streaming, the organization will refund the registration fee, upon presentation of proof of the order or administrative restriction that prevents the participant from leaving his/her country.
What does the “Ticket” to Congress cover?
The "Ticket" covers participation in the Welcome Cocktail, to be held at Forte da Cruz, in Estoril, on September 14 from 7:00 pm, the two days of work at the Estoril Congress Centre, including coffee -breaks and lunches, as well as the Closing Gala Dinner on September 16, at Casino Estoril.
It also includes the presentation of the ALAI/GESAC awards, which will be followed by a cocktail, to be held at the Hotel Palácio Estoril, at the closing of the 15th of September.
How do you get to the Estoril Congress Centre?
The fastest way is to take a taxi from the airport, it takes about 25-30 minutes and costs between €35 and €55 with luggage. Always ask for a receipt, with or without a tax number.
If you have time, you may prefer to take the train to Cascais, at Cais do Sodré: to get to Cais do Sodré, you can take the Lisbon Metro, Aeroporto station (red line), change lines at Alameda (green line) and get off at Cais do Sodré (CP station).
The Lisbon Metro is open from 06:30 to 01:00 in the morning. Tickets are purchased at automatic machines that accept coins, bills and credit cards. The first time, you will need to buy a rechargeable zapping card (+€0.50). The metro trip costs €1.35 and takes about 30 minutes to get to Cais do Sodré train station.
There you can buy CP tickets at the ticket office or at the green machines (which accept coins, bills and credit cards). Before boarding the train, tickets must be validated at the machines or yellow posts. The train ride on the Cascais line costs €1.90 and takes about 30 minutes. To better enjoy the scenery along the Tagus River, it is advisable to be seated on the left side of the carriage, near the window.
You can also choose to take the bus to Cais do Sodré at the Airport, the Carris Aero-Shuttle No.91, which operates from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm. Tickets are purchased and validated by the driver at the entrance to the bus. There are departures every 20 minutes and the trip can take between 20 and 45 minutes, but it passes through several monuments and arteries of Lisbon with tourist interest that you can use to plan to visit later.
